Trains, Cars & Bullock Carts

I have had some technical hitches getting this blog up. Its not easy when you have frequent power cuts and infrequent internet access!

Helen has visited. She spent some time seeing some of the work going on at Diptipur and met some of the people involved. Whilst she was here we also did some travelling! So here are some pictures showing more of the average travelling experience.

(On a side note, Kolkata continues to amaze me: guess what I found just round the corner from where we stayed? Yes a Landrover sales room!)

So, travelling by car is a nightmare. Here we met a bus coming towards us who was overtaking regardless of the fact that we were there!!

On top of this, the street is filled with all sorts of other traffic from bullock carts to JCBs.

And, as always there were so many people selling goods by the road side, coconuts, melons, flowers and the like. And all this travelling was because we spent some time with Daniel and Hannah Samson, old friends who were in England while Daniel was a consultant at North Tees Hospital. They really spoiled us, with a stay in a luxury resort. It was a good time and we were so glad we could meet up while we were both here.

I had wanted to put more pictures in, of some of the interesting sights, but maybe next time.
