A Progress Update (Part 2)

The Toilet Block

The second stage of the renovation is the construction of a new toilet block. This began with the digging of 6 foundation holes for the pillars which will hold a concrete roof. The holes were 4 feet x 4 feet x 4 feet, it took two men two days to complete this task (sounds like the answer to a Maths question!). Quite amazing!

And the image above right shows them reinforcing the pillars. If you look closely you can see fine wires, which pull the rods out to keep them square.

And below we have the two partners in this building business, Mr. Tandy on the right, and his partner. (Who obviously knows his place!)

It was at this stage that I left them to collect Helen. I was away for 6 days in total.

And as you can see below work went ahead at a great pace in my absence (!) so when we returned the foundations were laid and the walls were half complete. If you look very hard you can just about see Helen. When pictures are being taken every one wants to be in on the act, so it seems the women are relegated to the back!
